ClearAccess Launches Compatibility Program
(Wireless News Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
ClearAccess, a provider of managed broadband gateway solutions for
telecommunications operators, announced the ClearAccess Compatibility
Program.
The goal of the Compatibility Program is to validate interoperability
of third-party vendor CPE (customer premise equipment) with the TR-069
standard and to provide seamless interoperability with ClearAccess'
ClearVision Management System, which can be easily deployed as a hosted
web-based management application or as a standalone appliance, the
company said.
According to ClearAccess, TR-069 is a protocol defined by the Broadband
Forum for remote management of residential broadband gateways and
IP-aware devices in the home or office network.
"Service providers have a lot to gain from deploying broadband networks
that are compatible with the TR-069 family of standards," states Joel
Pennington, Director of Marketing and Business Development for
ClearAccess. "It allows them to offer their subscribers state-of-the
art capabilities - like managed WiFi and Internet security, IPTV,
content filtering, Internet time blocking, and home networking - with
high levels of service for a relatively low cost. The proliferation and
complexity of broadband residential devices makes the task of
configuring the home network too complicated for most people. In the
face of mounting competition from cable operators, the ability to
easily offer new 'sticky' services for a reasonable cost is a critical
business issue for operators."
The TR-069 protocol enables remote management and new service delivery
for an array of residential devices and applications. Service providers
can avoid costly truck rolls to customer locations and instead use
TR-069 for remote troubleshooting and auto-configuration, the company
said.
"The Broadband Forum has successfully evolved TR-069 into a
groundbreaking standard that addresses key technical and business
challenges for telecom operators and their broadband subscribers," said
George Dobrowski, Chairman and President of the Broadband Forum. "The
ClearAccess Compatibility Program represents a great example of
industry leaders making the benefits of TR-069 tangible for service
providers."
"The ClearVision Management System provides us with powerful visibility
to our broadband customer base," said Charlie Cano of ETEX. "We are
excited about the future possibilities of working with our customers to
support a variety of devices in their homes as a way to tighten the
relationship."
"ClearAccess' commitment to standards-based TR-069 interoperability
enables our customers to access new remote management capabilities with
greater confidence," said Brian Henrichs, VP of Business Development
for Actiontec. "The ClearAccess ACS represents a complementary solution
to Actiontec's broad portfolio of TR-069-compliant CPE products."
